After playing back up for 15 years, in 1990 he decided  to start recording his own music and released his first CD “Reveillez-Vous”. West Chester looks forward to welcoming Peter to our beautiful county.  You can enjoy his music on Friday, June 29th at the Asplundh Concert Hall on the Campus of West Chester University.  Tickets are on sale today! Changing Seasons

  By Mary Barrett, MSN, RN

Each Season brings its own meaning and gifts and is unique in its own way to each of us. For me, this Spring has been more bountiful than in previous years. It started with that first burst of color in early March. The early blooms brought about an excitement and eagerness for the awakening of the season, an anticipation of new life and opportunities. This spring, I rejoice as I meet new clients and hear the incredible journey that they have been on. Stories of transforming their lives, behaviors, thoughts, bodies and health are empowering in and of themselves. Each individual in these stories recognizes the power of the higher self. What brings them to my practice is their desire to tap into the gifts that are already within.

It is always important to understand your own power, your own importance and worthiness when you want to create positive change. For within you is everything you need for success, love, and transformation.

Neckties and Gear Oil

The story of how Brent Morgan Motorcars was born...

An unbreakable friendship started almost 10 years ago under the car lifts of a Havertown landmark, John J. Gallagher & Co. Mercedes-Benz Specialists.  Matt McGeever and John Gallagher III spent hour after hour of their high school years covered in gear oil and grease; sprouting wrenches from every pocket and typically elbow-deep in any engine they could lay their hands on.

Under the tutelage of John’s father, John J. Gallagher II, the bourgeoning “alley mechanics” received an education in auto repair and restoration that very few were privy to. John’s father was known as the east coast source for foreign and classic car restoration and repair.  Chubby Checker, Joe Frazer, Jackie Gleason, Patty LaBelle and Will Smith, just to name a few, wheeled in car after car for the special touch of John Gallagher II. The shop atmosphere was addicting to most car lovers, combining the spectacle of a Mecum auto show, the camaraderie of a classic barbershop and the precision of a high-tech laboratory, all rolled into one.  From an early age, Matt and John were hooked.

As often times happens, the two took different paths, but always maintaining their friendship. Matt went off to college at Wake Forest, majoring in economics and caught the entrepreneur bug early in his academic career.  At seventeen, Matt had already started a car brokerage company on eBay and rapidly built a very impressive network in the car industry. One of his clients introduced Matt to the world of commercial real estate, and, before graduating, Matt formed Brent Morgan Properties LLC, now one of the top performing real estate holding and development companies in the West Chester area. Matt’s success can be attributed to an unwavering work ethic, developed early on and honed by an innate sense to succeed. Therefore, it is not surprising that he is alarmingly driven, focused and business savvy at such a young age.

Ron's: It's the right thing to do

Although it was a bright, beautiful, sunny day at Ron’s Original Bar & Grille, Becky, the wife of Ron Inverso, the restaurant’s owner and namesake, was not feeling so bright and shiny. Sulking into the kitchen, she dropped her keys on the counter in frustration and begrudgingly told her husband, “I did it again.” “Again? Are you alright?” was all Ron could muster in-between orders. Over the past few months, fender benders were becoming a little too common for Becky. However, a scratch here, a ding there, a few dents and rising repair bills were not the main focus of concern. Becky had been carting around their three girls and two boys for the past 18 years to baseball, plays, friends and school without an incident. Ron had no reason to believe there was anything wrong.

An eye exam later that month changed everything.  The Inverso family went into crisis mode. Becky was rushed to Jefferson Hospital, and after an eight-hour operation; Becky emerged with a new direction in life.  After months and months of recuperation luckily Becky only suffered some loss to her peripheral vision. “It was the worst day of my life,” Ron remembers. While he sat in the hospital, waiting for the excruciating eight hours to be over, Ron attempted to distract himself with newspapers and magazines from the end tables of the waiting room. Moving on to the medical journals, Ron scanned a few articles regarding nutrition and a theory emerged, “There just might be something I could do to make sure this doesn’t happen again to Becky or any member of my family and community.” The family discussed their beliefs that “everything happens for a reason” and then Ron made a silent pledge to learn as much as he could about food - from crop to table and everything else in-between.  He learned many of the diseases we get are because of poor nutrition and eating the wrong things.

4th Annual Chester County Studio Tour

Saturday, May 19th 10am - 6pm

Sunday, May 20th 10am - 5pm

What started out as a casual monthly discussion between local artists has evolved into “Four years of making art local.” We can only imagine visiting the studio of Andrew Wyeth in Chadds Ford 60 years ago. Chester County had yet to become the icon of American landscape painting.  It would have been an opportunity to experience history being made and the art that was an integral part of it.  Today a new generation of Chester County artists open their studios, building on this artistic legacy. Chester County Studio Tour is a self-guided trail that connects and highlights these local yet extraordinary artists.

Chester County studio tour invites friends, families, art enthusiasts and the curious to experience and meet a variety of astonishing artists as they exhibit their work during this two-day event. This unique and intimate opportunity creates a free unlimited access to the artists, and a clearer understanding of our story and creative process.

We invite you to browse the artists, and then download the map  or see the map below and choose a road. Follow it through the winding roads and rolling hills until you reach the door of an artist’s studio. There you can join us in our journey and begin experiencing art everywhere in Chester County.
